Thank you for your concern. The city continues to adjust the timing of this signal as necessary. However, we are unable to provide an exclusive green phase for both Ashford Center Parkway and Womack Road. Doing so would cause more traffic back ups on Chamblee Dunwoody Road and negatively impact the overall operation of the intersection.

So people traveling on Womack Rd. have to sit through several lights waiting for the person turning to go. I guess this means our time is not as valuable as the Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. people. Most of the people on Chamblee Dunwoody are cutting through to 400, so MAKE THEM WAIT.

The majority of the traffic at the intersection is on Chamblee Dunwoody Road. In order for the intersection to operate as efficiently as possible more of the cycle time for the signal has to be given to Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

I think that we all understand that the majority of traffic is going north/south on Chamblee-Dunwoody. I believe the previous poster is concerned, as I am, that residents travelling westbound on Womack are negatively impacted by the lack of a Womack only phase as 2 left turning cars have the ability to halt all westbound traffic. What I am suggesting is that instead of a 60 second green phase that begins by allowing Ashford Center Parkway traffic proceeded unimpeded for the first part of the phase that perhaps allowing that 60 seconds to be split between 40 seconds of Ashford Center Parkway (with a no turn on red) followed by a 20 second Womack would benefit Dunwoody residents travelling Westbound on Womack.

The timing of the signal is set to maximize the efficiency of the intersection as a whole. Ultimately the way to further improve the traffic flow is to add a left turn lane on Womack. This is a project the city will have to plan and budget for in the future.
