This shows one light covering over 3 blocks of Adrian Avenue.

From city of Largo: At the current time, new street light installations are carefully reviewed due to the budget reductions in the city. Areas where our Police Department documents a need for additional street lights for Crime Prevention purposes are considered as they are identified. The City will place this request in the pending file for future installation at such time as funds become available.

I will share this comment with the police department as they have been out on this street on several occasions and have made comments themselves about the lack of streetlights and sidewalks.

It is very dark on Adrian as it is on 19th Place SW, and I do not feel comfertable even letting my children take out the garbage at night because of it. Our neighborhood needs more lighting period.

The police department themselves has made comments on the lack of streetlights in this area. What is it going to take to make this neighborhood safer?

Please let us know how we can petition for streetlights.

Apparently planting trees in Largo is MUCH more important than street lights and the safety of its residents.Kind of lets you know where we stand in the pecking order, somehwere below foliage. How sad!

Adrian Ave. has maybe one street light between Indian rocks road and Gladys and no side walks. In the past six months a young man was hit riding his skate board on the street. Clearly some action needs to be taken.

A petition has been started to get streetlights on Adrian Avenue. At this time there are about 40 signatures recorded.

There is also a petition posted at the Michaels Convenient store which is filling up fast.

Most comments are about how dangerous the street is and crime.

Hmmm WAKE UP CITY OF LARGO!!

Currently there has been over 100 signatures collected on petition to get streetlights/sidewalks on Adrian. The residents, guest, commuters and all who use this street have voiced concerns over safety and crime.

Sounds like plenty of people want these street lights installed. I know in my neighborhood private citizens had them installed and pay monthly for them. $18 per month shared by 100 or more people on a petition. Just a thought!! Good luck.

Has the petition been brought to city hall yet? I have traveled this street myself at night, it's very dark and dangerous.

Sorry I have to comment again after reading Pinellas County's comment about funds for streetlights and a few others.... their priorities are obviously in the WRONG place. it's obvious that the residents in this area, police and many others are very concerned about safety and crime in this area.

What is it going to take to get these people at minimum streetlights!?

Private citizens such as those in this area can contact progress energy and have lights installed. Those the cost is low to have this done. They have one installed on my street and it cost $18 per month. I suggest the affected residents group together and see how many can chip in. If 100 people signed the petition the cost per person would be very cheap per year.

I just found this article from 2007... looks like the grant money was used elsewhere because Adrian has NO sidewalks.

New sidewalks planned along eight streets
LARGO – The city has awarded a half million dollar contract to MTM Contractors for construction of new sidewalks along eight city streets. MTM was the lowest bidder among nine companies seeking the contract.

Streets to receive new sidewalks are listed as: 58th Street from Roosevelt Boulevard to Whitney Road; First Avenue N.W. from Clearwater-Largo Road to Howard Drive; Rosery Road from Clearwater-Largo Road to the railroad track grade crossing.

Also, Gladys Avenue from Hillsdale to Adrian avenues; Adrian Avenue from Gladys to Indian Rocks Road; Eighth Street N.E. from East Bay Drive to Second Avenue N.E.; Lake Avenue from Nursery Road to Sunny Breeze Avenue and 126th Avenue North from Seminole Boulevard to 108th Street North.
