I'm a long time home owner in Oakland and live on MLK and 11th. In the past few months I have seen loitering, homeless encampments and general disarray increase twofold in Lafayette Square. When this square was renovated a few years ago the community used it frequently. I saw seniors do tai chi in the mornings, kids playing in the afternoon and the church on MLK have weekend BBQ's. Now it can't be used for its original purpose and I'm concerned that if it's not cleaned up the situation could become dangerous, if it isn't already. There appears to be so much trash in the square now that a growing collection of overflow is being placed on 11th St.

Can you please address and clean up this park immediately so that the community can use it for purposes intended.
