The parking lot at the corner of Willow St. and Mitchell Dr., owned by the City of New Haven, is a filthy mess. The amount of garbage is astounding; really, it looks like a landfill. In addition, there are two abandoned cars, which were used for some kind of accident/rescue demonstration, which look like the were used in a war. This is what people see, when they get off of the interstate and drive into New Haven: a filthy, disgusting, dangerous looking mess. New Haven, "look what we got" - outrageous taxes and a decrepit public realm and a corrupt, incompetent government.

Drivers and their passengers like to see clean parking lots when they come off 91.
It is an eyesore and makes one think they are driving into a ghetto. This is not acceptable!

Would LCI also look into removing the section of chain link fence, at the corner of Willow and Mitchell Dr., which was rolled back and left hanging (uselessly) by some construction workers, last year? Other than trapping garbage and blocking pedestrian access to the parking lot, that section of fence just adds to the neglected reality of this city owned parcel of land, which would be a prime spot for a tax paying development - even a glass box office building, with parking beneath, would be an improvement - excellent highway access...

The grass was cut, because, for the past two years, I have been taking an hour per week, to cut and trim the grass strip and pick up trash between Mitchell Drive and the I91 entrance ramp. Could we get the CT DOT to take responsibility for maintaining this area?, as I think it does belong to them. I have to tell you that working along this area is unpleasant, at best, but it makes driving or walking into East Rock or Goatville much less of a downer.

Just to clarify, I did not cut the grass, on the Eastern side of the I91 entrance ramp. Whomever cut that 15' strip should be ashamed of themselves. They didn't even bother to pickup the garbage, before cutting the grass, so now there is chopped up garbage strewn across the entire sidewalk and it looks worse than it did when the grass was not cut. Do people do this kind of thing out of spite? because anyone who isn't a total loser, slob, low down nasty person would show so much contempt for the environment which he - and everyone else inhabits.
