I have also spoken to All American Waste about pickups at 91 Church Street at 2:30 am. The East Rock Community Management Team helped initiate and helped get passed a Noise Ordinance several years ago, because of this exact situation. That ordinance was amended to allow for 6 am start times downtown and 7 am start times for refuse pickups in the outlying neighborhoods. I am having my tenants monitor this and if it continues I will address it again with higher management. Remember that trash refuse companies find it easy to take care of New Haven early and avoid traffic, so remaining vigilante is part of our collective solution. Keep up the good work New Haven.

Two times this week John's came before 6 a.m. and today, they came around 6:10. That's three days in a row to be woken by this noise! Certainly they should not be coming before 6 as per city ordinance, but city ordinance should also change to to not allow this before 7 a.m. weekdays even downtown, and 8 a.m. weekends. (They have come before 7 on the weekend.) Each day I am woken up by thus noise. The trucks stay for at least 5 minutes at a stretch. One reason people to choose to live downtown is to have short commutes to work and school so they can sleep later than if they lived farther away, but this now everyday truck noise takes away this benefit.

Have you considered asking your alderman about it? If the aldermen are representing us, and this is public problem, the laws should be enforced or we should get a law that protects the well being of residents rather than outside corporations.
