I witnessed the same issue in the opposite direction this week (southbound, turning east onto high). When I posted the image on facebook, another poster reported seeing the exact same thing. Video of a car making the same mistake can be found on youtube.

Better painted lines would help; Beyond having the double yellow, how about a costs hatched triangular "delta" to show that we can only enter the rotary rightward and go around it clockwise. I would also like more paint to define where cars might or should go to/from Rural Ave & High on the east side of the rotary.

I have twice seen this happen at this rotary. Please improve the lane paint and signage!

I live near this rotary and the signage is terrible. There needs to be clearer signs about right-of-way and large signs in the middle of the crosswalks telling drivers to yield to pedestrians. Blinking lights might be nice too. I have lost count the amount of times I have nearly been run over while crossing in the cross walk because drivers don't slow down or know what they are doing.

I too have seen multiple driver errors in this intersection including all of the above mentioned problems, both before and after the construction and the repainting of the lines to celebrate the Centennial. The addition of signage and some paint would be a welcome and fairly simple fix. Thank you.

I agree there is a sign that says "keep right" but it is small and easily missed. a large sign that says ROTARY would help solve the issue.

Brian's picture, linked above, is a great view of the problem. I'd say it is partly caused by the fact that High St on the eastern side is so very very wide and inviting, ans so much of it is spread out on that side of the island, like a big pair of asphalt arms spread wide and saying "I'm High Street! come around this way!". Island splitters might not be enough to make High street less inviting.

We have the issue of the Winthrop St Rotary on the agenda for the next Traffic Commission Meeting based on the reports that we have received. Keep providing reports and I will update as I get the info on the progress.

(and the Mayor & SeeClickFix for making this public forum "a thing"), since it looks like the Traffic Commission meets during the workday when most folks can't be there. http://www.medfordma.org/boards/traffic-commission/, but we can participate positively here.

Unfortunately they meet during the day. This issue is on the next agenda. I think we can get something done that will improve this situation. I will keep you updated.

New Rotary signs have been put up this should help.

Thanks too for the painted splitter island approaching southbound on Winthrop! Looks good. Could we get a "traffic circle" sign or three High@MVP too?

I guess Rural/High needs some deeper thought by the Traffic Commission before it gets lines panted on it?
