Oh good grief, City. Address doesn't show up? This is stupid. Just go there. Really hard to miss.

To the south of Staybridge Suites, at the intersection of 6th Avenue South and MLK S., there is a large grassy area between Booker Creek and the Pinellas Trail. In that grassy area is a makeshift community composed of a old white school bus, a RV, two tents, a red pick up truck and a fence that's been put up very close to the Pinellas Trail. The area is closed into a circle to keep people out. It is a settlement, without sanitation, untilities and city services. The owner is James Boggs and very likely he is living there. Since when does the City of St. Petersburg let a shantytown get erected close to downtown and the hospitals and neighborhoods, where people walk to get to baseball games, next to a new hotel, and up against the Pinellas Trail? This is ridiculous.

Seriously what does the city ask us to report these things and then "Stonewall" us by saying we don't give the correct address?! This issue is so ridiculously obvious that if the inspector can't find it then they probably should find another job!

Why don't I feel better by the last post from the Mayor's Action Center 4?

Well finally, someone got off his/her posterior and actually meandered down there. Geez.

Maybe instead of complaining about this "frightening" "mess" and "terrible eyesore", you can get off your entitled complaining buttcheeks and DO something about the homelessness problem in our city? Perhaps instead of complaining, you could seek to work together to actually do something useful instead of just demanding that the city take down this area because it's an "eyesore". It doesn't take much for any of us to end up in a situation like this. Have some effing compassion.

Guest, I went over there on Tuesday to see if there were any Veterans In Need. I volunteer at the Veterans Village in Saint Pete. None were Veterans and the one person who spoke with me seemed at ease with his lifestyle. You are correct that we should all be involved to correct homelessness but sometimes the people involved don't see themselves as homeless. They just live off the land that others own and accept all donations and handouts that are provided. Politically they could be following the Bernie Sanders Ideology.

The homeless have resources and there is no reason for this behavior. I understand it is an issue but there are places to go. I gave a bunch off homeless visa cards to pay for a shower and that is what they used it for. what have you done? our city has become a big dump and living here has become insane,messy and noisy.

Goldnwolf... I work with the Veterans Village in St Pete where we get the Veterans that fall through the cracks of the system. (or should I say through the canyons of the system?) We provide housing, food, clothes, transportation for medical appointments and shopping. We also file for their education or training benefits and become their advocate when dealing with agencies. We only work with Honorably discharged Veterans. At this time the youngest is 31 and the oldest is 89 and a World War II Navy Veteran.

We should give those homeless rats a one way ticket to anywhere but here. They are absolutely disgusting and do nothing but spread disease and tax our ems, sanitation, and police system.

Hey there I was homeless once due to a fire and no resources. Most of the homeless I have HELPED wanted the life of no rules and no commitments. This is a life many of them chose. there is project hope where they can go. They prefer the streets away from rules of society. I do what I can and send them to a resource center. you should get a one way ticket with your hate somewhere but here. we don't need you and your hateful attitude.or want you here with hate in your hate. at least the homeless have some love.maybe you could take a lesson from them.

The town is growing again with a new motor home and semi trailer bed spreading out toward MLK.

and Phyllis is right on... A direct result of codes and compliance turning their heads for years. This area once relatively quiet and respectful has become a battle ground between neighbors and ideologists instead of action. This is what we are left with to take action... a Mayor Action Line to no action and this Fix It forum for neighbors to try and express there is work to do... which leads to this banter making it a political or who's politically correct, or not, bashing.

Once again I ask that someone close this issue out. Three Years is long enough for this. Besides, major construction on the site at this time will not allow any homeless from living there UNLESS they become a permanent part of concrete base and walls.

Wow Faye, that is soooo rough. You need to get a grip. These are human beings. I understand your concerns but have a heart.

Shelby1314... Faye wrote that on July 20th, 2016, almost three years ago. She may have had a change of heart, or moved OR maybe her wish was granted and all those homeless moved over to the Old Northeast side of the city and became good neighbors?
