I'm happy to see that you are also finding a lot of graffiti. I see your various post each day as they come in, and I always smile when I see that you also care about graffiti and blight as much as I do. In fact, I hope to meet you some day! Without a doubt, our efforts really help the city's staff to expeditiously locate and address these trouble spots.
I have been chasing down graffiti taggers in one capacity or another for approximately 17 years, and I know first hand that the Code Enforcement Officers, Maintenance Workers, and City Painters are working as fast as they can to address these issues. When we don’t receive a response from them, or if they don’t quickly address a problem that we identify via SCF, it sometimes feels as if they aren't doing anything at all. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
The City of Alameda staff works very hard each and every day; but they can’t do it all, unless they get a staff that is double or triple the size of their current staff. There are way more code violators, graffiti taggers, and maintenance issues than there are city staffers to address the problems that they become aware of. Therefore, we just have to trust the city’s staff to prioritize their time and efforts. Trust me, all of them have list of the trouble issues that we submit, and they address them as quickly as possible.
In other words, they don't have twenty or thirty extra employees standing around waiting to chase each and every one of these issues. But in time, everything will eventually be addressed.
