Description

Cars continue to speed along this narrow, 2 way street. They ignore pedestrians waiting to cross, contrary to state law which says they must stop and let pedestrians cross.
I guess they are going too fast to see people
A few days of police monitoring might solve the problem.
Olive St. is soon to be a bike path to the waterfront.
Cross your fingers that no one is hurt.

Call the mayor's office 203 946-8200 and get the number for the alderperson for this ward or visit the city's website to get the number

Neighbors have asked police, etc. for years for help and minimal help received.
Alder and all local officials are aware, but are not involved in problem solving

As a long time resident of Olive Street, I do not find it any better or worse than other streets in the city. A fatality a few years ago resulted in warning lights at the corner of Olive and Court, but these are routinely ignored. Perhaps you could lobby for speed bumps.

This is a major pedestrian walkway to and from the downtown area. It remains extremely dangerous to cross, especially for the elderly, disabled and children.
Cars DO NOT STOP and travel in excess of the 25 mph speed limit.

Since the creation of this post additional crosswalk infrastructure has been implemented at Olive and Court and a speed radar sign installed north of the intersection. Thanks for helping us improve the community!
