I agree with Eva. Bicyclists are often oblivious (pedestrians, too). Sometimes they seem to walk/cycle deliberately against the signals, painted crosswalk marks, lights, etc. Since I live around here, I'm used to that and I drive slowly and carefully. It annoys me when motorists around here are blamed for everything, when so many pedestrians and bicyclists have an attitude and zero attentiveness. How many bicyclists have I see around here with earphones in their ears AND an open book on their handlebars? Sheesh.

I don't want to start a war with the bicycling world, because I ride one, too. The entire situation at this intersection needs to be addressed, or more pedestrians will be hit. Some more refereeing by the Police would really help here. I only see them at this intersection during the morning rush.

Thanks Dept. Of Transportation. A stop sign is really needed. At one point in time, there was a stop sign there and it was removed. The clamps are still on the pole.

if pedestrians and bicyclists stopped just darting out into the crosswalks this could be avoided. The law is clear pedestrians ESTABLISHED in a crosswalk have right of way. Running, riding or darting (even walking) out into moving traffic does NOT give u the right of way.

There have been many requests for a STOP sign on Sachem. This would be the best way to help make this intersection safer. There used to be one, but it was removed when they started construction.

I drive like a snail all around this area because people on bikes or on foot are completely oblivious at all times. As night falls, they apparently have no clue that their dark-colored clothes do NOT show up when someone is driving past -- hence my decision to drive like a snail. So yes, "Neighbor," I also am tired of being blamed for every mishap.

Can a stop sign be replaced there? It seems to make the most sense
