Yes. I would like for a left turn arrow to be strongly considered for that intersection to help with turning northbound from eastbound. It routinely backs up during the peak times and I have seen multiple instances of vehicles cutting through the Shell gas station on the corner to avoid that intersection.

UDOT engineers recently observed this intersection for the Left turn off 3500 S Eastbound onto 7200 W and have adjusted the signal time to allow for more left turns to make it through each cycle. The intersection has been placed on our "upgrades list" to have new detection placed on the left turn lane to allow the cycle to help clear the left turns, but this will take some time before it can be installed.

The signal runs "free", meaning it is not attached to any coordination plan and the timing can run on demand up to a maximum time programmed into the signal controller. Based on our automated reporting, the left-turn signal mentioned activates frequently, but it usually "gaps out", meaning it detects no more vehicles in the lane and ends the green time. There are only a few instances of the phase going to the maximum time allowed during the morning peak., and the rest of the day it gaps out and serves all of the traffic in the lane. Its possible the turn lane may back up with the volume of traffic turning north to SR-201, but it doesn't appear anyone is waiting more than one cycle to make the turn.
