This affects every house on the block as every car and truck rumbles over it and shakes our houses. It's dangerous for the houses, for bikes, for everyone.

I concur with Megan. I can feel my house shake every time the 126 bus goes by. And the number vehicles that bottom out in the sinkhole is increasing. Sooner or later, someone's car is going to be badly damaged.

this is what my ceiling looked like after the 126 bus hit this very sink hole and caused a few hundred lbs of plaster to come crashing down back in 2014.. cost me 5k to fix it and the damage it caused, and yet hole still isn't dealt with... thanks jersey city.

raw sewage currently (9/30) backing up into and flooding my basement from sewer sink hole in street.

We gave sewage in basement too as do other neighbors.

sewage coming up into my basement! pressure so high, my pipes are going to burst... why can't this be fixed NOW?

there is a makeshift patch in the road now. however, as before, the passage of cars and especially the 126 bus over this causes our houses to shake enough for pictures to fall off the wall.

mua inspector, no sinkhole found. there is eveidence of past patch work. pavement is not smooth due to multiple patch spots. the sewer system in this area will be replaced as part of the mua's consent decree. it has been marked for one of our phases.

call it whatever you will, but it doesn't change the fact that when a bus or truck goes over this spot, our houses shake severely. pictures have actually fallen of the wall. fwiw, i have a richter scale app for my phone and it actually registers as a small earthquake when the 126 bus passes over said "sink hole."

JCMUA this needs to be fixed immediately. This has been going on long enough. The damage that is being caused to our homes is inexcusable, particularly in light of our significant tax increase! Our neighborhood was hit particularly hard by the increase and yet the damage to the road continues to erode the foundations of our homes. It's not fair.

the sewers have backed up, flooding into me and my neighbor's basements from the recent heavy rain. the pipes are still NOT draining 12 hrs later. JC, if you aren't going to fix the damaged sewer pipes/sink hole, at least please come and pump out the lines. (would be nice to be able to use my shower, toilet, etc.)

MUA will be replacing the sewer in the near future. the JCMUA will stabilize the street.

once the new sewer is installed the street will be milled and paved curb to curb

do we have a timeframe other than "near future?" sure would be nice to have it fixed before our houses fall down from the incessant shaking this issue is causing.
