Delilah and Helen , The person who handles your questions is Engineering which does have records on the age of the pipes and can do a lead test. I am the DPW Director your questions are not handled by the DPW. I have given you the correct person to contact if you need an immediate answer. Helen, I hope the information above is helpful to you as well. Beyond that, the full length of Avon St is served by a water main installed in 2007 and the water service pipes are copper on the street portion, the portion on the private side could be lead.
The City of Malden web site has information regarding the potential for lead levels in drinking water. On the home page you will see a link, among the information available is a map of Malden showing each property and water pipes known to be lead are highlighted. This is according to information shown on city records. The city also offers a free water test for lead levels and an inspection of a properties water piping to determine material if requested.
See Click fix is intended as a means to have issues that residents see or are concerned about addressed and in this case as I explained an accurate answer can only be made by looking at a specific property and the services the city offers can only be performed with personal contact. I and the people I work with always do the best we can to help any resident that contacts us. Gary gstead@cityofmalden.org
