The city removed 2 broken big belly compactors from J. Owen Grundy Park instead of repairing or replacing them. Since the city does not repair broken things, does this mean this fountain will get removed as well?

At a recent HPNA meeting, a member of the HP Conservancy said they are planning to fix the fountain.

I complained last year and in July they responded they ordered part. This fountain never worked right and should have been original contractors responsibility. Why should anyone other than parks dept or city have it fixed. We will be paying higher taxes soon and yet volunteers clean the parks when it is the dept of public works job.

I have no doubt that they 'said' they would fix the fountain. Heck, using the big belly compactor comparative, they also said they 'ordered the parts to fix them'. 'Saying' and doing' are completely different - especially when they say they are planning to fix but offer no dates, thereby avoiding any accountability. Shameful. And by the way, it is equally shameful of Jersey City government to have people sign release forms when they perform a city street trash pickup - a cleaning that would not be necessary if the people who worked in the varying city government departments actually did their jobs.

Completely agree. I'm equally frustrated that the city can't seem to get the simplest services completed (i.e. Public trash cans that are CONSTANTLY overflowing, broken playground equipment). A few months back I reported that the lane lines on center street near Ferris high school were never completed. Someone from traffic closed my inquiry stating the work was done. It's not done.

I really like to point out when the city does a good job at anything. I really hate pointing out when the city not only neglects but puts the public in harm's way. Standing water in such an open public place is a health hazard to everyone. The lack of action and apathy around fixing one fountain is mind boggling. Can anyone provide an ETA on the resolution? Can we please remove the stagnant water until the fountain is fixed?
