The encampments on Grand should really be moved.

Cite them the are in violation of Oakland municipal codes 9.08.160 sitting lying in the street or sidewalk. 9.08170 Obstructing pedestrians. I can name several others as well. The City really needs to come up with plan other than the head in the sand approach.

Every visitor coming off the 80 to check out Uptown is greeted by this site. Certainly we should have empathy, but these encampments should not be in such visible areas. I have seen lawn chairs and trash cans IN THE ROADWAY at this particular site for over 6 months now.

Kevin, wishing you the best of luck. We pedestrians can not even walk on the sidewalk because the City doesn't want to do anything about the encampments.

Yeah, I feel bad about getting things out of bike lanes if it ends up on the sidewalk.

I know that BART board members are interested in safe routes to and from BART. Robert Raburn has successfully worked with some jurisdictions to improve the walkability, but BART does not have direct jurisdiction, of course.
