The answer? Empower the police to ticket dog owners who are walking their dogs without a poop bag visible. Even if the dog has not yet gone to the bathroom. Update the signage around the city with a working phone number! I mean really, how can somebody report an irresponsible dog owner if the phone number listed on the city's sign is a dead end?

This is a real problem in our city, and if you scroll through this website, you will see many many posts about irresponsible dog owners not cleaning up feces.

You need to be more specific in your complaint, and even take/post pictures of the offending refuse left behind, or even the irresponsible dog owners not picking up.

The blog "All Over Albany" has covered it in depth as well. But without multiple complaints to DGS officials, and the mayors office, as well as multiple detailed post on this website… Nothing will be done.

How about installing "Dog Waste" containers on poles as is done in Europe?

My complaint clearly states that the bags are full and being left behind on the sidewalk. And walking dogs where children play on private property. I agree the signage needs to be updated or put into place where it is lacking- I am just hoping people will be more considerate and stop sneaking onto private property to let their dogs do their business. I agree- the containers should be helpful- but there is a city trash can less than half a block away, if the bags are supplied as well for those who "forget" to bring along....

Looking only to make supplies available for those who do not bring a bag or have a place to dump it. The point is trying to come up with a solution instead of ridiculing please.

My comment was to PB - Ticketing dog owners that cannot prove they have a bag on them is a little excessive.

I agree that it would be easier to comply if there were more trash receptacles on the major streets. You can walk for miles without coming near one. I always just carry the poop bags home, and most dog owners here are very considerate, but there used to be several trash receptacles along New Scotland years ago and they're gone now.

It has been over a year, please close you ticket if this has been fixed. If it hasn't, open a new one with this ticket number in it for reference.
