Ashlee - UDOT Region 2 Operations assigned this issue to Station 227

Brandon, I am glad you brought this up because i agree 100%. It's bad enought the bike lanes are lined with rock/gravel in the park strips which readily finds its way onto the roadways, but the construction debris is horrible right now. Heading southbound past providence, one of the construction accesses had the bike lane covered with very large gravel. I narrowly missed it all because nobody was in the traffic lanes. I dont know why they are not being monitored more closely to clean up there messes. This was in the evening so they had plenty of time to clean up. Please monitor them more closely and sweep the bike lanes once and a while.

At least it will be well documented when there is an injury. Not sure how the road permits work in Herriman but in SL County I would receive fines for all of the debris and unprotected storm drain inlets.

I would be intetested in hearing if this would be Herriman or UDOT who monitors (or doesnt as is the case here) the construction companies on Mountain View. I can assure you this spot has been like this for at least a month now. Here is a pic i took a couple of weeks ago of the same spot.

Sorry forgot to mention, this particular spot is the first constuction entrance past Providence going southbound.

Agreed. Next construction entrance past this one is clean, so obvioisly this company does not care aboit cyclist sagety and i am starting to think niether does UDOT.

I am unsure if it is a continuous situation because traffic is still allowed to pass through or if it is from ongoing construction or another reason. This is a construction only access it has been this way all summer so it is not from normal traffic it is 100% a construction issues and a lack of permit enforcement. Right next to this is unprotected storm drain that my tax dollars will have to pay to clean out I get fined on my Constuction site for not adhering to the EPA rules. I have a cracked windshield from this area THERE ARE ROCKS IN THE ROAD almost everyday.

Heidi the Utah State Water Division has given me some contacts to see if the site has the SWPPP permit do you have any idea who would enforce the protection of the Clean Water Act on MVC? If it was being enforced there would not be gravel and dirt in the roadway and the storm drains would be protected.

The UDOT permits office would enforce the SWPPP on an access permit. The permits office has notified Herriman City who will contact the developer to clean up the debris.
