I live on the Fellsway and it is almost impossible to get in and out of our driveway without being hit, because of all the speeding cars. There is never a police officer on the southbound side giving out tickets. The city could be making a fortune.

Agreed -- I live on Blomerth and not only can we not pull out of our street that end, if you have to cross to take the 99 bus or walk home with a baby stroller (both of which I do) I swear to god the cars speed up when they see someone in the crosswalk. The traffic is making drivers aggressive. And I really feel for all the bike commuters.

Road Diet! Highland Ave is way to wide, which almost makes cars travel faster and bumped out crosswalks (curb extensions) will make it safer to cross and road diet will naturally slow down traffic.

Traffic enforcement has written many citations on the Fellsway and Highland Avenue and we will continue to do so. The police department cannot control the speed of motorists when we are not there but I can assure you that when an officer is stationed there vehicles are being stopped and citations are being written. Malden is a very congested city with traffic issues and violations occurring in all areas that equally require the attention of the Traffic Department. We will continue to monitor these areas as much as possible.

I agree the Malden police have been sitting on Hawthorne st and stopping motorists on the northbound side of the Fellsway. There has not been any police activity on the southbound side, between East Border Rd and Highland Ave. Some of these cars are going 50 mph. I have almost been hit twice trying to pull in my driveway. Please help.

An officer will be in that area this morning.

just wanted to say we've seen the police out in both locations this week, thank you! I live on Fellsway East and have watched a police officer pull over several cars and just let them go. Where are the citations? Letting them go does not work.

The Fellsway is a state road maintained by the DCR. Any upgrade in lights, signs, markings etc... has to come from the state.
