You're right Meredith. It has been posted at least twice before. Plus it is in the Bike Lane. Even worse. Time for City Of Raleigh to deal with an irresponsible resident.

Amen! If the city can fine me for leaving a trash or recycling cart IN MY OWN FRONT YARD for just 48 HOURS, it's WAY past time to fine these residents for BLOCKING A LANE OF TRAFFIC WITH SOLID WASTE for WEEKS.

Thanks for reporting. I have referred this to the City’s Housing and Environmental Inspections Division. When the inspectors have had a chance to investigate I will post an update.

Our inspector has initiated a public nuisance case today with a deadline for compliance of February 11th. The inspector will follow up to make sure it gets cleaned up.

After creating a hazard to public safety for weeks, they get TWO MORE WEEKS to fix the problem? Totally unacceptable. I'll remember this precedent the next time i get a ticket for parking 10 minutes beyond the time on the meter, or next time i get flagged for leaving my garbage cart out in my yard for a day longer than is allowed.

...and, i should note, this was an illegal act from the first minute that these branches were tossed in the street. To allow this to go on this long, after being repeatedly reported by see click fix users, is completely unacceptable.

The last time this was posted, the second time, the city said that they were initiating some action to the homeowner at that time. I can't believe that they have two more weeks to remove this pile of branches from the ROADWAY! I think the public needs to know what they did the first time and the second time.

As I passed this area yesterday, one of the residents stepped out. I approached him very brusquely and told him they needed to clean up their mess. He was exceedingly polite and apologetic (far more than I deserved) and said they'd try to get it cleaned up. This morning, the branches were gone. Though a lot of leaves were left, I tip my hat to him for being a good neighbor and taking the high road to my rude greeting. Never underestimate the power of direct interpersonal communication.

We also received word this morning that the owner had placed the debris in bags and it was picked up. Thank you for your help in getting this issue resolved.
