I did and all they could tell me was that they had a permit, which I already figured since there are police cruisers with them. So I guess my real question is who is the genius who gave them a permit to jackhammer one of the most populated streets in New Haven (considering that 500+ people live at 360 State alone), repeatedly thought the middle of the night? Whoever it was now has a lot of angry and tired New Haven citizens to answer to. So how does this construction get stopped, and how are these permits allowed to happen in the first place? Does this site actually do anything?

This happens every six months it’s just part of living downtown. The city doesn’t let utilities work during the day because of the heavy use of our streets. It’s just the way it goes.

Sorry Josh but I don't buy that. There is utility construction on these streets all the time. Traffic has never stopped them before from blocking and detouring the streets in the middle of the day. And I've lived in much bigger cities than New Haven that don't permit nighttime construction in downtown residential areas except in emergency situations.

I’ve lived downtown for a decade trust me this is common place here.
