Why just threaten to call the news? Just call the news. It will definitely get everyone's attention.

I’ve already tried all those avenues. Wrote letters to the newspaper contacted the Tampa Bay Times editor I’ve called the mayors office multiple times I’ve emailed the mayors office at least 10 times… The city simply won’t respond to the southside. All the money is in the Northeast and that’s where the city allots most of its resources. Unfortunately the homeless have more rights than those of us who pay taxes, if we were to all go there and camp and defecate and leave our trash we would be fined, arrested and thrown in jail! The biggest problem is the homeless advocates and places like this organization that they send these comments to that claim that they’re all helping the homeless, what they’re doing is helping the homeless to stay out on the street and keeping tax paying citizens from enjoying the parks we pay for!! I’m afraid the only solution is going to be that we take matters into our own hands… Maybe make these homeless camps undesirable or unlivable… Just one suggestion… Anyone have any others?

Thank you for reporting this. I have referred this to our police department and our homeless street outreach team to investigate and take appropriate action. Our homeless street outreach team works in this area on a regular basis and can help anyone willing to accept their assistance with shelter, referrals for housing, substance abuse treatment, medical care, etc. Our police recently added additional patrols to this area and are working diligently to address criminal activity as well as offer their assistance to citizens who are homeless. We will continue working on this until it is resolved. Thank you again for reporting this to us.

Checking the Pinellas Property Appraiser website suggests the camp could be, at least partially on private property owned by V P Windward LLP. If so, perhaps the land owner isn't so keen on trespassing and should be alerted?

Let's give them money to camp in front of the mayors area and they will be remove asap. Sorry for those who voted for Krisman....I have been complaing for YEARS. I'm going to ask for a public records request on the Salvation Army....this was NOT the intent that they told the neighbors years ago.

To all my liberal neighbors; These homeless folks like to live like this and appreciate it if you would bring them food and some gift cards. The like fresh water but would prefer beer or wine. Our mayor told the Police Dept that anyone establishing residence for 30 days or more cannot be thrown out onto the street (told to my be more than one Police Officer)... Therefore, these homeless are not homeless but residents. To my conservative neighbors; If you park your vehicle along the curb (yes I know it is a traffic lane) to stop and talk to these new residents (don't worry about the Police, the mayor has declared this to be a sanctuary city and you are parked there to make them feel welcomed) as traffic becomes a problem and horns start beeping, the Police and our liberal neighbors will realize that these new residents are a traffic distraction. Also please contact the local Environmental groups and tree huggers as these residents use the very ground for their human waste. I believe the Sierra Club might have an interest. Call USF as well. And lastly... For all of those who want you to feel bad about these poor people being there and want you to feel guilty... There is a way to find out where those people live and we can bring these homeless residents directly to the homes of those who care about them. God Bless Us Each And Everyone. Happy New Year.

The City of St Petersburg periodically reviews past reports that are made from citizens within our city limits, and in an effort to clean-up old issues that were resolved some time ago, we are marking as 'closed' those issues that were submitted in the past for which the work has been completed or the issue has otherwise been resolved.
