I bet the DPW doesn’t have time to do their regular work. Instead of being so negative, why don’t you ask politely. I am sure since the implementation of ClickFix their work has increased ten-fold.
Just read through all the complaints here about neighbors ratting on neighbors about parking and snow removable alone. Lots of neighbors getting tickets thanks to neighbors complaints. Just saying. I hope some people agree with me.

Point is taxpayers are being fined for this very thing daily, its not a dig at the DPW employee's its a statement of fact the people in charge of the city are going after hardworking taxpayers for thensame violation. Everyone should be treated equally, if the city needs 5 days to clean sidewalks taxpayers should be given 5 days

The real problem is the mindless cheerleading and the ridicule of those who rightly raise issues with the city's sub-par performance. All of us gave the city basically a free pass on the Christmas snow, as we should have. But the response for the two days after was completely unacceptable. With an extended period of brutal cold coming, the city pretended as if the packed snow that was turning to ice would just magically disappear. All over the city, residents were asking for help. As those polite requests went ignored, people became frustrated. On my street, which has a lot of traffic for a residential one, multiple neighbors made multiple requests. The city responded first by ignoring us. Then they claimed that they had cleared when they hadn't. It was not until late afternoon on the 26th until we saw a plow. The same thing repeated all over the city with some people still not having their streets cleared late on the 27th, more than 48 hours after the last snow has fallen. If you think that is acceptable...

As far as this particular issue is concerned, why should anyone even have to make a request in the first place? The city should know exactly what sidewalks abut city property and should have them cleared without having to be reminded. That is their job, not ours. And if someone becomes frustrated by their inattention to the basic functions of their job, that doesn't change any of that. The response to this relatively small storm was nothing short of deploarable. And that is the issue that should concern you rather than whether someone while requesting help suppliactes him/herself sufficiently for your tastes. That attitude is a pervasive problem in our government, in fact. If more people focused on the real management problems in this city and worked to hold OUR government accountable, we might see some progress.

Ghazi, throughout the whole Clickfix all you do is complain complain complain. Many times I have noticed the city closing issues on you. There isn’t an issue that you haven’t complained about. Why don’t you run for Mayor. See how many votes you won’t get.

If you think the way city government functions is just fine, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. But so am I. This is a public forum in which I am entitled to express my opinions within the confines of the site's terms of service, which I always do.

Let's review the history here. Someone made a valid complaint. They aren't wrong, are they? The sidewalk should be cleared, right? So they used the site for its intended purpose. You, on the other hand, decided to go on the offensive against that person. And I came to their defense and responded.

I attach my real name to what I say. I'm not afraid to publicly demand accountability and effective government. This city belongs to us, after all. I don't hide behind anonymity and use this site to take pot shots at private citizens. But I will not hold back when discussing a government that has a well-documented history of mismanagement (to put it politely). I am very serious when it comes to holding city government accountable. And this is just one of a number of ways in which I do that. If you ever want to get serious about helping to identify and solve our problems, I'm easy to find, and would be more than happy to have a conversation with you. Or you can just sit back and anonymously take shots at private concerned citizens. It's up to you.

Your the one taking shots. You just commented on another Clickfix relating to city trash bags. You are always commenting negatively here. That’s all I was saying. This site is for fixing problems and helping people. All you do is slam the City day in and day out. Piggybacking on someone else’s comments.

@Ghazi and @malden_complaints: Many of the issues you each raise are valid, and I agree with quite a few. But these issues are also more complex than either of you give credit for, and the extreme frequency of complaints along with the anger and vehemence you both show towards all city officials are making SeeClickFix virtually insufferable.

I agree with Anonymous. Run for office if you think you can do better. You have each become Trolls, complaining about everything without ever offering any potential solutions. This is not the forum in which to fix large scale city problems.

Thank You to the Mayor, DPW, City Councillors and other city employees for the work you do. There is room for improvement - and we will keep the pressure on - but many of us also do appreciate your efforts. Happy New Year!

Even today, five days after we got just three inches of snow, people are requesting help with iced over streets. One person just posted that s/he fell on Holland St. It looks like a skating rink from the picture. But according to you everything was just wonderful and DPW did a GREAT JOB! YAY! RAH! RAH! Are you all city employees, or relatives? Maybe Roger Goodell's wife?

Like I said, happy to talk any time about my concerns. If nothing else you might learn a few things about what's going on down there at city hall and where your money is going.

As for who the troll is, review the history here. You attacked someone for expressing a legitimate complaint. You called people "rats" and threw around all sorts of insults. Then, the same crew as always came out together. So tell me again, who is the one trolling?

As for running for office, like I said before that isn't a requirement for expressing an opinion and expecting accountability from government. That's the whole problem with this city in a nutshell. Those in power and those close to them believe that having power is a prerequisite to expressing an opinion and to expecting that government work for everyone. It's why this city remains riddled with so many problems from crumbling streets to the worst lead pipe situation in the state (as just two examples). It's like that because people like you refuse to hold those in power accountable for failing to address these issues.

Keep trying to block content, guys. It's funny. Each time it happens, you guys show up right before. Last time, SCF looked at all the comments your group caused problems with, decided NONE should have be held, and told me to bring any future problems to their attention. So you probably ought to stop and review the terms of service.

This Primary intent of this post was to notify that pedestrian walkways needed attention. Secondary intent was to comment on the inequality of the city being held to snow/sidewalk standards vs the private citizen. I get it. To an extent, I even agree with it. But that’s not the simple black/white world we live in. There is no single citizen solely responsible for the actual labor act of clearing 5+ square miles of city and hundreds of miles of sidewalk and public roadways. So if the city officials that are accountable for delegating the task/resource, prioritize that school paths, supermarket paths, public transportation paths etc are going to get attention before Trafton park, I understand that its just a matter of management resources and time before they get to Trafton park. Yes, superficially, if you isolate it from context, it seems unfair that the homeowner should clear the sidewalk NOW, and the city can clear their sidewalk LATER, but if you look at as a whole, in context, as our elected officials must do, it’s a different story.

Perhaps this thought on Primary intent vs secondary intent mentioned above might help some of the negative focused posters on here ; See-click is a tool to help manage a specific part of "running a municipality". It is/can be great for things like : posting missed trash pickup, dead animal, broken park hardware, potholes, leaking fire hydrant, illegally parked cars, code infractions.

See-click however is NOT the correct tool for other aspects of "running a municipality" such as: emergency police services, emergency medical or fire services, election of officials, community discussion for policy change/complaints. These aspects require a different forum (like 911 or city hall meetings) than what See-click is intended/designed for.

When some of us read the frustrated and negative complaints that aren't an immediate actionable item to be addressed and processed by a city worker, it detracts from the effectiveness and overall point of having this "action cue" system that both the city and its constituents can both work from. See-click is AN AMAZING ADDITION THAT I AM THRILLED TO HAVE AND APPRECIATE! But as with any tool, its important to know how and when to use it: Complaints with city officials, Policy theory, Code debate are topics that aren’t as “black and white” issues like: clean this, repair this, replace this, inforce this etc.

In other words, don’t use a wrench on a nail, then complain that the wrench is a useless tool! When expectation is compared to realization, its measured in frustration. See-click is not a replacement or substitution for being part of the government process, attending city hall meetings, and speaking with elected officials with an organized, researched perspective and proposal for change. We know things aren’t “perfect”, they seldom are, but this is the what we have to work with. No one is likely to block a comment posted if its primary intent is an immediately actionable task. Anything else is equivalent to hammering away on a nail with a wrench - your making a lot of noise, but not a lot of productive change.

This post is a bit confusing - the address listed in OP is not directly surrounding Trafton Park. I agree that the area directly around the park is extremely dangerous but the address listed here appears to be totally clear.
