if it's a private driveway a DPW worker should not be cleaning somebody else driveway with a city machine and I'm also getting pay at the same time because that person is on the clock getting pay by the city and also taxpayers money .

I've also seen plow truck drivers filling up buckets of salt to friends. A public memo with corrective actions and with clear directives to all employees should be issued by the City at least.

Now I Know why no one is plowing my street. I also know why, there is no Salt or Sand on it. This is a Crime, plain and simple. This person should be fired and the Taxpayers should be reimbursed. There are plenty of hard working, HONEST Men and Women looking for jobs. Find out who this Criminal is and fire his @#$%!! He is Stealing from ALL of the Chelsea Residents and making Chelsea Less SAFE in the process!

I'm on Cook Ave and would appreciate the plows not pushing snow back into cleaned out driveways. I cleared my driveway 5 times due to this issue. I gave noted it is not every driveway so this can be controlled.
Also the whole street does not have cars parked but it's a small path that is being done.

Send that city worker to my house too!

Other than the blue plate on the equipment, no proof it’s a city worker. The property owner of 27 Cook does not work for DPW but is on the CFD. Perhaps he hired a private contractor to shovel while he was out helping others during this storm and extreme cold

So you think he hired out a city owned piece of equipment(it said Chelsea DPW on the side of it) and someone other then a city worker was using it? Only city owned vehicles have the blue plates. And I don't care who owned the property. There is absolutely no reason for them to be on private property when literally the entire city is still buried under snow. The majority of crosswalks and sidewalks are still impassable. Please don't make silly excuses just because the property owned is on the CFD. To be honest I think that only makes it worse

I agree with you and also agree because side streets are a mess and need more attention. I’m sure the appropriate people will look into and deal with this.

Tell us the Taxpayers and the Voters of the City of Chelsea what happened. Who is being held responsible? Do not just tell us that it is Closed! Move along folks, Nothing to see here. This is business as usual in the City. How Dare WE the People, Question who was driving a vehicle that We Pay For, that should be Cleaning Our Streets. Who is The Fire Department Person that got his Property Cleaned on Our Dime. I Want the City Manager Assistant and DPW Assistant Director to put their Names HERE! WE Pay Your Salary!! We have the Right to Know! If you can't tell, I am Really Mad about this and We all deserve an ANSWER!

Be very smart about this one guys, don't slip back into the 1990's. Remember Chelsea is supposed to be about transparency and any use of city taxpayer money for personal use should be published. I would suggest some kind of official statement on this, don't screw up the trust some of us have/had in Chelsea.

Whoever posted this originally should send it to the news. I'm sure they would love to have a story like this. If they did some investigation, I bet they will find a lot more improper use of taxpayers money

I’d say give Tom A. a chance to address this issue today and publish a transparent statement on it. He truly does care about cleaning the city up and hopefully we can get an answer before we have to air our City’s dirty laundry on the news.

I agreed. This is not a internal issue this a public one and therefore a public statement is expected. Let's give them a day before reaching the media. They will dig deeper and maybe some heads will roll after it.

This issue has been reported and received. I have personally spoken to various members of management and they are dealing with it.

It would be unlawful for the city to speak on issues of personnel or any actions that may or may not have been taken pertaining to this matter. As with all other things, there is a process/ procedure that must be followed. I’m not sure what else can be done to satisfy everyone’s concern.

Thank you to the person that reported it- it is essential in continuing to hold folks accountable and continue the transparency in local government we all advocate for.

You will need to explain how it is unlawful to comment on this issue since it is no longer a personal matter since City resources were used. Is there a code/ordinance or anything you can cite on why releasing this information is unlawful? Can you attach what the policy/procedure is with releasing the information since city resources were used for a personal nature? Will the details of this be addressed in a meeting and the minutes released? Obviously your answer will not be satisfactory most Chelsea taxpayers since it's blatantly obvious that there was an abuse of power here.

Thank you for responding here but please just let the citizens know if you will be releasing information on this matter in near future, if not then we can pursue other avenues to get attention on this matter.

I believe you may be misconstruing personal and ‘personnel’. I’m not saying it is a personal matter and therefore we can’t discuss it.

What I am saying is that the person in question is City personnel, meaning an employee and therefore as their employer, the City of Chelsea can not divulge private information as it would be a violation of the employees rights. There are employment/labor laws that the city must abide by.

You can probably call our HR dept. on Tuesday and ask the director where to find that law and I’m sure they’d lead you in the right direction.

Look, I share your frustration. The reason I got involved in politics was because I was tired of misusing powers, lack of transparency, lack of communication & many other things. But we have a new City Manager and Directors in various departments that are working really hard to ensure that we are being fair and transparent and holding folks accountable. I assure you that I have personally spoken to folks to make sure they got to the bottom of it. And still, I don’t know what the outcome/punishment was because it’s illegal for them to violate employees privacy and disclose that info. I have to believe that they followed protocol & issued a warning/ suspensión and/or whatever appropriate avenue to address the issue.

I will respectfully ask that you, like me ‘trust’ that these new leaders in the DPW dept. are doing their due diligence, until they give us a reason to think otherwise.
