  Especially treacherous for bicycles - both cars and bikes weave all over the street dodging potholes - it's gotten much much worse and is very dangerous. Health hazard!

  It is absolutely terrible and dangerous to bike on--I need to weave to avoid some of the potholes and it confuses/annoys the drivers behind me. I wish I could communicate that if it's awful to drive on, imagine how it is even worse to bike on.

  There are many terrible streets in Oakland but this one is one of the worst. Maybe the one block of Garnet, West of Broadway and one block South of 42nd, is worse, since it is virtually unusable. But 42nd is a major street for our neighborhood and needs serious attention. It’s surprising that the City has not been sued for property and even personal injury.

  I’ve written before....the blocks of 42nd Street between Broadway and Telegraph are hazardous. There are more than 200 potholes that have been circled on 42nd Street between Webster and Telegraph; another 80+ potholes identified between Webster and Broadway. I see hazardous driving, dangerous veering and swerving by cars and driving down the center of the street as cars avoid potholes. It is exceedingly dangerous for people on bikes. Now that Oakland schools are in session, there are many many children riding their bikes on 42nd Street.

  I've written before as well...all they do to appease us is give us a confirmation message. It's time to go to a Council meeting! I was worried about bicyclists falling...so sorry to hear that a child fell...I am sure there are others. And it IS surprising the City has not been sued...though I am not usually litigious, it is often the only way to get things moving.

  PLEASE EXTEND THIS TO MLK - 42nd Between TELEGRAPH & MLK is equally SUPER ROUGH and DANGEROUS for BIKES and CARS - everyone swerves all over the place, and with all the trash/dump under the overpass, it's an intense hazard!

  Yes, this has been a problem for YEARS. I see that Rockridge has gotten some new paving...our street is much worse. 42nd between Broadway and MLK NEEDS REPAVING.

  I've registered a complaint about 42nd Street previously; the only thing that's happened is the potholes got circled. This must be taken care of NOW - repave!
  Also, Shafter in Rockridge was repaved but Shafter south of 51st remains seriously potholed.

  I have lived on 42nd St., near Telegraph Ave., for almost 18 years and the street has received little to no attention in this time. I suffer from chronic pain and every time I travel up or down my own street I must endure the bone jarring and very painful effects of these potholes that are so numerous it is impossible to avoid them no matter how creative my driving may be. Please, repave the whole street from Broadway to MLK. It's long overdue.

  I just called the city (Public Works dept) requesting an update on this service request and was told that 42nd Street isn't listed on the city's "5 year plan" for street repair (a plan last updated Jan 2018). The Engineering dept rates streets across the city using PCI (Pavement Condition Index) to determine prioritization. I haven't heard yet if our street has been assessed and rated, but at the moment it's doubtful anything happens. The city's budget allocation for street repairs is woefully inadequate.

  Fascinating that Shafter Ave in Rockridge has been re-paved and now roundabouts are being installed. I know Temescal and Mosswood have been viewed as "other side of the tracks" in the past, but now with home prices and rents soaring I would think that we would get the same services as the more affluent areas. Silly me.
