Reported before, when work -- on the entire length of Butte Street, from Florida to Tennessee Street -- was supposed to be completed in December 2017. Can we ask why -- and why has our city has tolerated it-- the project continuing for such a long period, with so little, and so sporadic work taking place. Seems that, in Vallejo, railroads and public utilities -- despite both having terrible safety records -- get a free hand, and all the time they need to finish jobs.
PG&E is expected to complete their mainline project in this area within the month, and after will commence the restoration phase. If you would like to speak to a PG&E about this work, please call me at (707) 648-5251 and I will provide their contact person. Thank you for using SeeClickFix.
Justine, the work by PG&E is completed, when is the restoration of the landscaping going to happen, if ever? Or are you going to say it’s PG&E’s responsibility?
Not to mention the disastrous messes made in people's front yards, and the wreckage on the Butte Street Steps. To paraphrase that slogan from the seventies: "We're PG&E, we don't have to care".
Finally, do any other neighbors remember the postcards mailed out by PG&E shortly before work started, warning of the location of main gas pipeline hazards in our neighborhood? Did you notice that not a single block of Butte Street was shown or mentioned in the message?
Of course, in the absence of any organized local authority, or law enforcement in downtown Vallejo, we really can't expect PG&E to give a hoot.
Last week City staff and PG&E met for walk-throughs of affected sites in preparation for the restoration phase. The staff member will update me when he receives a firm start date from the contractor, but it should be within the week, and I will update this post accordingly. Thank you for using SeeClickFix.
Hey, has anything firmed up on the scheduling of a start date for the restoration of landscaping? Or is this just another issue left flailing in the wind.
Yes, the landscaping is very important... BUT... there are poorly patched and already crumbling and subsiding holes along the roadway of Butte Street. There are also similarly asphalt patched sections of sidewalk and undercut retaining walls. When these eventually (and it won't be long) collapse and get complained about here... guess what: the city is going to explain that repairs to sidewalks and retaining walls are the financial responsibility of adjacent homeowners, and neither the city (nor PG&E) will not pay for it!
Any word on finishing this up? Or is it not PG&E‘s responsibility to replace the landscaping and restore it to what it looked like before construction ?
This morning there are multiple plants in pot, sitting on the sidewalk here, assuming that means they’re going to finish restoration of the Butte Street stairs landscaping. ...FINALLY
