This activity is suspicious because VMT is trying to allow the Historic Sperry Mills area to fall into disrepair. They shouldn't even be there. The City needs to do a better job policing this area and keeping it clean. https://youtu.be/ymPD5Bn07sk
Thank you for reporting! The railroad company is currently working with the Code Enforcement/Community Services Division on determining a more permanent solution to this ongoing issue. As a result of their meeting earlier this month, the railroad company will commence with cleaning up its tracks within city limits today (March 6, 2018). The tracks will be cleaned up in sections, starting with the spur at Lewis Brown Drive. SeeClickFix is one of the many tools available to the citizens of Vallejo to report non-emergency issues. We “close” an issue in SeeClickFix once we've acknowledged the complaint; however, this issue is not "Closed" per se; it will remain an "Open" case with us until it is corrected. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know. Thank you for using SeeClickFix!
What? So now the Railroad owns the street? It is a photo of dumping in the street. Please explain how it is their responsibility? Not like it's the first time illegal dumping has occurred here, why the change in policy now?
Thank you for your comment. A part of the street is in fact owned by the Railroad. A representative has contacted our office to inform us that they are going to inspect the issue and will forward anything outside of their property line back to the city. Thanks again for using SeeClickFix!
That really is not a satisfactory answer. 1. This is having to do with dumping ON THE STREET, not on a railroad. 2. If the starting point is on the other side of town, how many months until they plan on getting to Derr?
Then they need to put a gate and fence at the start of their property way further down the road then what currently exists. Perhaps alert the security guard that is on the old mill property.
The California Northern Railroad is responsible for maintaining this parcel. The contact persons are Mr. Rob Myer and/or Mr. Jake Harrison (Rob’s manager) from the California Northern Railroad:
went to look at the beginning of the homeless encampment clean up on the tracks today 03/06/2018. It’s quite a sight. The have to use a back hoe & large garbage truck because the pile is so gigantic. Perhaps people running the city and the railroad will take note that letting the problem go without correction brings us to this point of ridiculous cleanup efforts. On a positive note at least I will say they have started cleaning up. Hopefully it won’t be like the Golden Gate bridge and by the time you finish painting one end then the other end is ready to start painting again. But with 130 camps to clean up, as CSS/Code Enforcement claims, it's likely going to be months before getting down here.
Note to some who failed to read or understand the first time: THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC STREET. The railroad in fact OWNS that part of the street. It's part of the parcel. Owned by the railroad. Not the city.
