Pedestrian crossings at this intersection are halfway between the old crossings and the new crossings. Neither are safe right now. Did we pay for this work???

You paid for it TWICE. Here's the explanation from City engineer Danny Lau:
"....the work at the new island at the intersection of Adeline and Market was re-designed. As a result of this re-design, new and different traffic signal poles are required. Unfortunately, these poles have a long manufacturing lead time of about 2 months. The contractor has ordered the poles but the removal of the existing crosswalk/traffic signals and final improvements cannot begin until the new traffic control systems are constructed to allow for a planned and organized switchover....."
Seems like they could create a safer in-between-time arrangement, but instead, I witness people falling down in the crevices, falling against that Warning Sidewalk closed signs, jaywalking in traffic, pushing strollers in the middle of the street because the sidewalk is closed, etc.
Unbelievable!
