Why was this issue closed? This lawyer is a predatory slime ball! Also, if you are parked there for hours to "advertise" and for no other reason, is that legal?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that the parking regulations vary based on whether or not you have advertisements or bumper stickers or anything plastering your vehicle. As long as the vehicle complies with parking regulations, this really is not a SeeClickFix issue and should be closed. If you take issue with how a business chooses to advertise, you should contact that business directly, not SeeClickFix.

It's not just whether I like it or not. This is clearly being done for advertising purposes, there were still 7 hours on the meter on closer inspection, and it was parked there first thing in the morning....every day.

If you want mobile billboards parking on Whitney, go right ahead and let this pass uncontested.

cars are not allowed to remain in a meter outside of the posted time restrictions. so if it's a 12 hour parking meter, the van is allowed to stay there. i have heard more interesting rules like a car cannot stay for longer than 72 hours in any parking space on a city street (including residential zones) and that after the length of a meter you have to move a car 75 feet or something like that.

my guess is the attorney in question knows these rules and is (creatively) obeying them.

If you want this issue fixed, posting on here is not the best way to do it. Try to get a law passed banning it. Call the mayor's office.

I disagree. I'm an alderman in the city and I check this site very frequently - I don't get to every issue in my ward, however I do check a lot of them, and believe this is a great website for crowdsourcing ideas and solutions from more community members and stakeholders.

From the post and comments, it sounds as though the van in question is following the laws regarding parking requirements. However, that doesn't answer if the signage is safe etc.

I don't like the van using a parking space for advertising purposes either however i highly doubt the department mentioned above wants to hear about a van that is legally and safely parked on the side of the road. I also doubt your complaints are going to entice the city to try and make a lawyer move his vehicle when it doesn't have a valid reason to. While i stand corrected, that this is evidently the right place for a discussion about possibly creating a law about this issue, until a law is passed or parking regulations are changed, targeting this one man and his van will only hurt your cause as it looks more like a case of revenge than thoughtful care.

There are several vans and minivans with obnoxious appearances in advertising. I love the one that is meant as a taxi for kids that is purposely misspelled. Way to go, America! Encouraging phonetic misspellings in a business specifically for children - you're brilliant. There is another, a real estate agent on Goffe, her van is pretty unsightly as well.

Yes the Pinsky Lawyermobile is all kinds of tacky, but no worse than the billboards and other advertising blight littering the roadways. At least Irv is a local business.
