Description
City workers are at it again. They used some phone polls and some street signs, but they hit the older trees too. The trees we planted last year were treated to strings. So this is progress, but we need to keep going.

From my understanding the DPW is aware, but its subcontractors are not always compliant.
Stapling could perforate the trees natural protection against disease, like our skin.
There is evidence that it is harmful.
The treesNY site states that stapling trees is harmful.

"Protection From Mechanical Wounding
Mulching, planting trees in landscaped beds, and even staking can give trees the necessary protection from mechanical injury. Wounds caused from lawnmowers and grass trimmers can promote areas of decay in the tree. Cars, snowplows, staples, and any stacked materials that wound stems and branches can cause long-term damage in a short time."
