Burlington PD came to kick them out of the no parking area. So now there are even more cars parked on the grass. I guess Burlington PD doesn't care about that ordinance?!?!

Closing the issue after the problem corrects itself over time by the self-entitled AirBnB guests leaving town is unsatisfactory. What is the city going to do about this nuisance property? How many times do I need to report the same thing? Sounds like the city doesn't give two &*%@s. Why would you when the city has extra tax revenue coming in? AirBnB bribery.

I’ve always been curious as to why people care what other people do at their houses and on property that doesn’t belong to them. BPD got the extra cars off of the road. Are the air bnb visitors really hurting anybody by parking on the grass? Other than the people who own that lawn, which clearly they are okay with since they have encouraged people to park there.

Jf04--I'll attempt to address your valid concern from a couple of angles. First, I'm in my seventh decade of living here in Vermont and have witnessed the degradation of Lake Champlain's water quality due to phosphorus pollution. Repeated driving on lawns compacts the soil forcing rainwater to run off rather than percolating, the runoff carrying phosphorus directly into the lake. With no, or struggling, grass cover, the phosphorus-bearing soil is carried onto the streets in tire treads, and again is carried into our lake. Thus the ordinance against lawn-parking.
Also, zoning has been adopted to ensure a quality of life and HELPS keep us from constantly being at war with our neighbors. The surgeon living in your neighborhood has quick access to the hospital in emergencies, but doesn't perform as well with multiple wakings as vehicles pull in and out through the night, music blaring and alarms beeping. I'd rather my surgical team had a good night's sleep before my surgery. As they'd like me to be at my best as I pursue my profession.

The latter part of your response seems to be more related to a larger issue (should large Airbnb’s be allowed in residential neighborhood?), but the comments on rainwater and lake pollution are something I hadn’t considered before, and are valid concerns.
