Acknowledged Ryan O'Malley - Ward 4 Councillor (Verified Official)
Hello Lvpre,
My name is Ryan O'Malley and I am the Ward 4 Councillor. This intersection is within the scope of two large construction projects which has required a significant amount of pedestrian and motor vehicle detours.
The City of Malden is aware of the dangerousness of the Exchange Street corridor and this particular intersection. We are on top of this issue and recently had a road safety audit conducted by MassDOT and the engineering firm Stantec: http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/Portals/8/docs/traffic/SafetyAudit/District4/Malden_ExchangeStreetCorridor_RSA.pdf
As a result of the MassDOT Road Safety Audit there is a plan to completely reconstruct Exchange Street from Commercial Street to Main Street in 2019 (map attached).
In the short term I will ask the City to remove the crushed piece of metal blocking the walk sign.
If you'd like to discuss this further I can be reached at (781) 870-0041 or romalley@cityofmalden.org.
