Thank you for contacting UDOT. This intersection is the first time anyone will stop heading southbound after the newly completed overpasses. The intersection at 6200 S is experiencing the same issue. Currently the intersection at 9800 S is running at capacity and we are unable to make any changes until the final lane configuration is established. The northbound and southbound movements here already have the most time and back up the eastbound and westbound movements. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I encounter this same problem on my daily commute during rush hour traffic. The problem could be alleviated if the time the light stays green for north/south traffic were increased. From what I've noticed the East/West traffic is not backed up, so increasing the time for north/south to have a green light would definitely help the majority of drivers at this intersection.

Please look at this issue more closely UDOT. It appears that some of the afternoon westbound traffic on 9800 S. has shifted to 9000 S. now that the overpass at 9000 is functioning. The amount of traffic on 9800 S. does not warrant the amount of time the green lights are set for 9800 S at the Bangerter/9800 S. intersection.
