This is getting so old its pitiful! The city does as little as possible when it comes to dismantling these camps! What dont you people see! It is in plain view as you drive through just this area alone! From Sereno dr. to LBD on sonoma blvd is a disgrace, Caltrans doesnt even clean up the median! Why isnt the city contacting them to keep up their property? To much BUREAUCRATIC BS at the COV!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did past city leaders even bother to write city codes if nobody’s going to enforce them? Homeless encampments, people living in RVs, abandoned vehicles, shopping cart abatement programs is it’s all there in the City’s Codes- we just need the enforcement to follow through.

But woe as me, tote that barge lift that bale, we can’t possibly do that much work with the understaffed and short on resources public workers.

I had visitors over the weekend and we had the misfortune of driving by that area. I felt ashamed of the condition of my city; I had to apologize for it when I saw the alarm in their faces.

CSS has one part-time and three full-time employees who are responsible for addressing all quality of life concerns, supporting Neighborhood Watch groups, and working with the Neighborhood Law Program and Code Enforcement to address distressed and dangerous properties. We work hard to investigate each report in a timely manner, and will investigate this report as soon as we possibly can. Please keep in mind there is a lengthy process to remove illegal encampments. Can someone from the please inspect the old vacant Walmart building. I have had concerns regarding it for years. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone is squatting or has squatted, trash and vandalized that building.

CSS visited all locations and found a trash but no encampments. We have notified Public Works to clean up.

Directly across the street from the old food 4 less store on broadway in the eucalyptus trees. You would have to be blind not to see it!

This is State owned property CalTrans is responsible for cleaning this area up and Northern Pacific Railroad in responsible for cleaning up the tracks.

Your telling me the railroad company owns the property all the way to the edge of the pavement from the tracks on Broadway, and all they way to Mini Dr?

So instead of taking up the citys precious time, maybe a whole ten minutes to clean it up, you refer it to the State and the railroad company to clean it up? What a bunch of bureaucratic BS!!!!!!!!!!!!! You, the COV would rather have these sights look filthy than clean them up? You people have seen the mess, you contact the Railroad company and the state! While your at it, have the state clean the center median all the way down Sonoma Blvd, or is that something us taxpaying citizens have to engage! You people running this sight are a joke when it comes to responding in a timely matter and correcting the problem. It seems your always pushing it off on someone else! This sight is not working and it shows, just drive around BUMSVILLE USA!!!!!!!!!!!!

So is it the state of California, Caltrans or CNR, that won’t let our city’s Grounds crew onto the property? Bill or penalize CalTrans or CNR for the time & labor, just like any other property owner. Perhaps that will get the message across. This would not be the first time billing the appropriate party has been suggested.

Artsem, as you have seen in the past, the COV, draaaaaaags it feet on fixing these problems that us concerned citizens have commented on. Your idea is nothing new as you have stated, but that would be to easy, and the city of vallejo has to much bureaucracy to do something easy!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so we have these blighted areas continue on and grow!!!!!!!!!!! It doesnt matter what laws are on the books in this town, there all ignored when it comes to enforcing them in these matters! And it shows!!!!!!!

Forgive me William, I posted that as if somebody else besides you me and several others are reading it. Nobody from the city ever reads the comments and provide any answers besides the canned response. I believe that they have been instructed to not make any official statements here. Maybe they are not qualified, not interested or accurate, so I guess it’s better to say nothing.
