We have told our kids when we train them in driving that they need to watch very carefully if they get on the freeway here to go North and should have their horn ready...just to make people aware you are coming around the corner and they are supposed to be yielding. We have also told them they need to be ready for people to pull right in front of them, so they need to be prepared to swerve, slow down or adjust their speed...just in case the other person is oblivious which is more often than not the case :(. I have always had a problem with that entry to the freeway...We have lived in Murray for over 16 years now and that spot is odd, because for some reason no one (well...most people) don't yield. I would love a better way!!

We have made some safety improvements at this location - Flashing Yield Signs, Yield Markings on the Pavement and we have also removed a landscaping tree that may have hindered sight distance. This on ramp is in a tight location with respect to Right if Way and there is currently no funding in place to add an additional lane on the ramp to alleviate the merge.
We will continue to monitor this location with respect to signal timing and making sure the improvements we do have out there are working properly. We appreciate you talking with your family about safe driving practices. As space for improvements becomes less available and traffic volumes increase, drivers will need to keep their eyes on the road. We will continue to look for funding opportunities for possible future improvements.
