So does this mean if it’s there with a red tag it will be towed? Because after getting tagged Tuesday the 13th the owner worked on it for a couple hours and finally got it started and backed it up in front of his own house. He took the tag off. However it is a non running or drivable vechicle and so by Saturday it will have sat well over 48 hours again. I would think it should be checked again. How do non working vehicles get removed from public and private property? Thanks!

I would think the owner of the vehicle should be allowed to park in front of their own home. It may be an eyesore for the neighborhood but, they’re not bothering anyone being parked in front of their home.

Right, I understand. It is irritating because I’m not even sure why they got it in the first place since it doesn’t even run but, I’d rather it be able to stay in front of their house instead of them moving it around in front of others homes. I have a 1 car driveway, there is simply nowhere else to park except half way down the block sometimes when they’re in front of my home and it’s getting really cold out there to be walking that far - at night or super early in the morning - as a 25 year old woman.

We will monitor this situation, but the best results will come from a collaboration between our community and us. A vehicle cannot be on a public roadway for more than 48 hours. If a red tag is issued it must be moved but moving it in front of ones own home or literally 3 feet in either direction fulfills the statute. Vehicles parked on the street must have current registration (easy for us to determine) and be operable (not so easy for us to determine absent any obvious mechanical deficiencies). Please be advised that we can only testify to things that we know to be true therefore, 3rd party information an whether a vehicle runs generally cannot be used. We generally tow in bulk every Sunday due to staffing and tow company preference. Therefore, it is possible that a car tagged on a Monday and not moved after 48 hours is not towed until Sunday.
