Description

The entire street is falling apart . There is loose gravel everywhere causing skidding . Potholes every other foot in the entire block . I made TWO complaints last year for this same block .

A. It’s not THE HOLE it’s THOSE HOLES . More than a Hundred potholes some a foot wide some two feet wide

Q. Is the pothole located on a freeway on ramp or off ramp?
A. NO

Q. What were you doing when you encountered the pothole/depression?
A. Biking

Q. If signage, a barricade, cone or other device covers the pothole whose name appears on it? (e.g., EBMUD)
A. No signs anywhere

OAK 311 has received this issue. Your service request ID is #889255. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

I find this answer unacceptable. When driving around the parts of Oakland that are used by tourists or which are in wealthier neighborhoods, you don't see potholes or streets that are completely crumbling apart. I think it's reasonable to ask that a city council member or SOMEONE who has a seat at the table to go to this street and have a look with their eyes to see the condition of this street. Better yet, drive your car over it once or twice a day and tell me it's fine and can wait.
