Description

Storm drainage holding basin not draining. This is located behind our home on Burleigh Cottage lane and along Centennial Rd across from the elementary school. It allows for the growth of large numbers of mosquitoes each year and we cannot go out in the warmer weather due to the insect bites. This holding basin should not be allowed to retain water, I believe the drain tower in the photo may be clogged as the water has been in the basin all winter.

The stream which empties into this drainage pond is also secretly blocked... have contacted Howard county 3 times.
Limbs, trash can kids, etc have washed into the stream and I’m quite sure made its way down to pond. The stream backs up behind properties on Burleigh Cottage too.. hope you can get this resolved. I have not been very successful.. good luck

Sorry to say that the issue has not been addressed yet and the weather continues to warm up. Can someone from Howard County provide me with a date when they expect to have this resolved? As I stated, it is a major health concern for the residents in this area due to the infections these mosquitoes create.

Two months and no response yet. Are there any supervisors who can let me know the status of this issue? The mosquitoes are horrible as predicted. Lots of kids in this area trying to play with out getting bit.

Very disappointed in Howard County Public Works for not addressing this public health issue affecting so many.
I was to understand ta this was what we pay taxes for. Perhaps the situation should be elevated to someone with more concern who can at least acknowledge the complaint?

Writing to see if others are bothered by both the stagnate water that is breeding the insects and by the lack of concern displayed by Howard County Public Works? I really do not want to be a pain, but if they are not going to at least respond too our complaints, then what is the purpose of this forum?
