Why is this issue assigned to the Parking Authority when they work weekdays? Isn't after hours parking enforcement for the APD to handle?

Besides them revving their engines, on Monday a quad rode down the sidewalk between Willet and Lark on Madison. In front of Downtube all the way down to Ironhorse. Thankfully no one got hurt. They were also riding in the wrong lane against traffic. There were 10 off-road vehicles in all. APD refuses to do anything. Someone is going to get hurt one of these days.

Why has this been allowed to continue?

You are exactly right JJ. They were speeding down the sidewalk right past a daycare center where little children we're trying to get in their cars to go home, all the way past lionheart. The police can't catch them if they aren't present to see and hear it and don't ticket or charge them. This is happening because it's allowed to. These bikers know exactly where they can get away with this. We have no police presence. By the time APD arrives, if they do it all, 30 minutes have passed and the perpetrators are long gone. APD says they don't pursue due to safety but we are at risk every single day throughout this entire neighborhood and that safety issue seems of zero concern.

I understand that it could cause a safety issue if they pursue. But what happens if a child is killed when these people are being reckless? What will change? Because something will change at that time. So why can’t that change come now? There has to be a solution.

JJ, Unfortunately, it appears it is going to take a tragedy for them to deal with the problem of motorcycles and 4 wheelers speeding through the city, going the wrong way, on sidewalks and so forth. Their excuse that it is for safety that they allow this has only encouraged many more to join in. If they can't pursue them will they pursue them if they commit a violent crime or rob a bank? Is it a complete free for all in Albany as long as you are operating one of these vehicles? Seems that way. We don't really know if someone hasn't already been hurt because so many things elude the news in Albany.
