This extremely steep hill has an incredible rate of speeding and dangerous driving for a one-way street.
Having been in the neighborhood several times recently, I saw some of the most dangerous interactions I've ever seen between cars and children. There are many, many families on this block and their children are often playing on the sidewalk.
I think the best solution would be to add a mid-block crossing at the top (because you can't really expect children to walk up and down a large hill just to cross the street) and to make the entire street 15 mph instead of 25. I'd also add a speedbump both going up AND down--I've seen cars fly up the hill and then go down it at 40 mph.
I spoke to several families on the street who all asked that something be done about this.
thanks--

I agree with all of this. These types of improvements would be great and make the neighborhood much more livable.
Have you considered submitting a "Complete Streets" request using the city's new policy? Your Alderman should be aware of how to do this.
