Thanks for reporting this issue! Public Works has an illegal dumping team whose sole job is to respond to illegal dumping reports throughout the City. On average this team removes 1,200 pounds of trash from public property every day. We strive to respond to all reports in a timely fashion. If you see someone dumping illegally please report the incident to the Vallejo Police Department.
Depositing garbage and debris onto public property is a violation Vallejo Municipal Code section 7.44.100 which is a misdemeanor offense with a penalty of $1,000 fine and/or up to 6 months in jail. Please do not move garbage and debris from private property to the street or alley.
joe, i am a business owner in vallejo. The last comment you made struck a nerve. I've had to put a cable across my driveway to keep these lovely Vallejo residents from disposing their trash on my property. My family business has been here since 1948. I have personally had to haul 20 plus truck loads of illegally dumped trash from my sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and fields. The city and police department have done nothing to stop or prevent illegal dumping except to threaten the victim. Thanks for your service
