Description
Cars on Stone School facing north to Packard can no longer turn right on red. The angle of this intersection provides excellent visibility to see oncoming traffic and be able to determine if you should turn right on red.
The capability of this intersection to handle traffic has been significantly degraded due to the changes. The right turn lane is gone AND you can no longer turn right on red. Getting red of the right lane was necessary in order to include the bike lane, but no right on red should not have been instituted here.

Thank you for expressing your concerns about this intersection. The "No Turn on Red" condition was implemented to support the bicycle box designed for this area. (You can find more information here: https://nacto.org/publication/urban-bikeway-design-guide/intersection-treatments/bike-boxes/)
The bicycle box design was selected to support the terminus of the northbound bicycle lane and movement into the eastbound or westbound Packard bicycle lanes. Final pavement markings are still outstanding at this location.
