I see trees everwhere in the city. But who takes care of them so the roots will not destroy the sidewalks and make them unsafe for walkers

Generally the trees don’t destroy the sidewalks, a few older trees have caused some minimal problems but that is easy to deal with. The trees are a much needed part of the city. I’d just like to trim this tree and not worry about someone telling me I did something to city property. The trimming would only encourage upward growth of the tree and once it’s trimmed it won’t be any problem again. Without it the tree will become a giant bush that would be destroyed and replaced by the city at a massive Cost compared to just a simple 30 second trim .
