Many of us have been complaining about this place for over a year now. The building is owned by an absentee landlord and she should be fined for every violation, maybe then they'll do the right thing. I just wish this side of the neighborhood would get some attention. No one from the city has responded to any of the complaints here in a timely manner and even our alder was no help in getting the issues we had with the snow last winter taken care of. Again, it seems the "better class" of east rockers get all the attention. Disgusting!

Staff conducted an inspection yesterday at 930 am:

"No illegal parked cars

Trash cans and recycle bins were empty. The owner was in front of the store cleaning when I arrived. I spoke to the owner and he states he will have the alleyway cleaned by monday. There is also a commercial dumpster already on premises."

We will keep an eye on this .........

Really LCI? You stopped by at 9:30 am and there was no one hanging out doing drugs, drinking, and causing a nuisance? Imagine that. I understand that you have different hours from the market but if you could, please come by around 3-5 on Wednesday night and take a look at the garbage that's in the cans out there. You can tell from your car that it's from the store. Yes, they have a dumpster but I can't tell you how long it's been since it's been emptied. All the garbage goes out in the city bins.

Hanging out doing drugs, drinking, and causing a nuisance are Police Issue 203.946.6316.

LCI is the housing department but we act as a catch-all and try to facilitate a lot of "stuff".

Public Works and the Health Department may be able to address the issue of the "garbage" because this is a mixed use building.

I will pass this along for other departments to follow up.

Oh and take another look at the picture, the white car is PARKED ILLEGALLY at the corner. I guess I'll just have to keep posting pictures of ongoing violations to get anyone to listen here.

Sorry but this a non-response, you might as well have not shown up at all.

The picture I posted was obviously from the night before trash pickup, and as the other poster said, why show up on a non trash day at 9 freaking thirty in the morning?!?!?!?

I've defended LCI in the past for only being able to do so much when there are other departments involved but this is just so ridiculously nonsensical that I can defend no more.

The owner has been dumping in the alleyway for the duration of his ownership of the store and his patrons have had the police called on them NUMEROUS times! This lip service is not at all adequate. It would also be nice if our ALDER would get involved in these efforts, but she is on vacation AGAIN! I'm disgusted at the neglect of this issue and that no one seems willing to do anything to remedy it.

Why does it make sense to walk by first thing in the morning when the majority of the store's issues (and business) happen(s) in the evening as the shot I took clearly implies? I guess its useless to complain in this neighborhood unless you are somehow affiliated with Yale. We pay our fair share of taxes, why don't we get the same level of services??

Regardless of whether you have the authority to deal with the issues we stated, to show up when those issues were obviously NOT happening and then have the nerve to blow us off is infuriating. Take another walk by in a few weeks some Tuesday afternoon (or how about this? Trash night!) and you will see a wholly different story.

Several Departments have been watching this area and the original violation has been cured..

The original violations have NOT been resolved. Yes the alley got cleaned up, for one week. The garbage area is a mess again. There is store trash and recycling in the city bins. And there are still people hanging around making noise, drinking and doing drugs at all hours. What exactly has been resolved?

This issue was recategorized from Private Property Issue to Public Space, Streets and Drains.

As I stated earlier, there would be a week period when things looked better and now it's back to business as usual, sure enough...people are still hanging out, the store is STILL misusing bins, trash is STILL being left on sidewalks and porches. Visiting once does not close the issue. It IS NOT resolved. Would someone PLEASE come by some Tuesday evening, you will witness all of the above. We are sick and tired of this eyesore and want something done about it instead of being placated by nice words and ZERO action. You can't Bull**** the people witnessing this on a daily basis.

Oh and LCI, obviously no one was alerted to this issue you said were, I don't see any commentary from any of the city agencies you mentioned, do you? Its been several weeks and other east rock issues have been acknowledged by Public works et. al. why not US?????????????????? Sick and tired of this double standard treatment!

Several Departments visited Gloria's based on your complaint (LCI, DPW, Health, TT&P).

Your complaint involved Police issues as well ( loitering & illegal parking).

LCI has no control over other departments.....they do not have to chime in on these threads. We try to work with the other departments on issues as we did with this one. We will remind the other departments that you feel this matter is still an issue.

Let's be fair: We did respond and address your initial compliant within our jurisdictional powers.

This issue has been quite for some time now......Therefore we are closing it.

The issue has no been quiet, therefore I am reopening it. The store is still misusing city trash and recycling and the alley is a mess. Just come by any Wednesday night and you'll see.
