I've already answered this question for you in the past. We can't enforce red zones on private property without a request from the property owner/manager. We regularly provide enforcement in that area for speed in other violations.

Caught another one doing it again today. And as a bonus some woman also completely cut me off and blocked off the crosswalk at Marina Village Pkwy as I was trying to cross the street. A grand total of ZERO traffic laws are enforced in this area. It is a lawless anarchic dystopia here where anything goes and any motorist can do whatever they want. You could park your car in a tree for all APD care. Nothing would happen to you.

Woman who cut me off and blocked the crosswalk at Marina Village Pkwy as a bonus to the above thanks to APD's consistent total refusal to enforce any laws in this area.

Note I snapped that last photo after the light had already turned red and I had already finished crossing. She was stopped there for a good 30-60 seconds at least while the pedestrian crossing light was green. She didn't even care that I had to walk into the road and into oncoming traffic to go around her

Saw another very fancy and expensive brand new audi parked in the red zone at marina village again today. it just keeps happening daily due to the total lawlessness of this area. no laws enforced here whatsoever. we got lots of transients walking around high on meth and intoxicated on malt liquor/vodka/etc passing out on the statue, vandalizing stuff, etc. total zoo over here. thanks apd for letting this continue for years... literally years and years of complaints from at least dozens of people and you still let this rot and fester

Thursday, August 1st 2019. I caught several more vehicles parking in the red zone today at the shopping center. Within 5 minutes of me being there I spotted probably around a dozen of them doing this. I got photos of several of them. Here are some of the photos I snapped of violators today.

Right after I took the pic of that last car another car showed up, a Volkswagen, and parked in the red zone as well. It's literally all day every day out here. Every 5 minutes a new vehicle shows up to break the law and park in the red zone.

Again what is the point of even having a red curb here if you just let people park anywhere they want? Whats the point of even having laws if you just let people make up their own laws?

Again, I suggest you direct your comments to the ownership group of that shopping center, and ask them to report these violations to us so we are legally able to enforce them.

Sergeant Brian Foster I have attempted to do this and do not have the collossal amount of time and money to invest in hunting down some anonymous shopping center owner who goes out of their way to make contacting them as difficult as humanly possible. APD has a duty to the citizens of this island to make sure that our island is safe and laws are being enforced. A red zone means no parking. I dont care if its on private property or not. If the curb is painted red, nobody should be parking in it. Contact the owner yourself and talk to them yourself. If they really dont want any parking enforcement then they can go ahead and remove the red paint from the curb. otherwise i expect to see enforcement here.

this shopping center is a source of constant blight and misery to the entire west end of alameda. and its apd's job to address that. if a privately owned property is generating a massive amount of blight and crime in our community like marina village, which currently serves as a defacto homeless campground breeding a whole population of transient d.r.u.g. addicts and thieves, APD needs to step in and address the problem.

That's right! Even MORE offenders parking in the red zone.

I also noticed an interesting recurring trend, 9 out of 10 times the offending vehicle is some kind of japanese or european luxury car like a lexus, mercedes, or audi, and 9 out of 10 times the offending driver is black. I wonder if it's some kind of cultural thing, where if you have dark skin and drive a leased luxury car you'd never afford in a thousand years you have the right to park in red zones whenever you feel like it? Maybe our progressive city government and police chief knows more about this fascinating cultural trend.

That's not including all the piles of rotting garbage, homeless encampments, randomly discarded d.r.u.g paraphernalia and other assorted biohazards, stolen property like bicycles and shopping carts from other stores that aren't even in the same shopping center like the target, etc.

Thursday, August 15th 2019. I just stopped by the area this afternoon. Immediately as soon as I approached the complex, the first thing I saw was this row of vehicles i.l.l.e.g.a.l.l.y. parked in the red zone, a clearly marked fire lane that is painted bright red, with big bold white letters that say "fire lane"

As usual, the drivers of both vehicles were black, although oddly enough, they were not luxury cars this time.
