This camper is dragging his tent back less than 1 hour after being told he had to leave and cannot set back up within a 6 block radius (Emeryville border to 32nd) of the original Peralta & 35th street encampment area.
The procedure to keep area tent free we were told was 1 warning, if they come back they get 3 chances and after 3 citations, then arrested.
They have been cleared now 5 times.
No citations are being issued. At the VERY LEAST these people can be cited For blocking the sidewalk which is breaking ADA code compliance laws. I would get cited if I block the sidewalk in front of my business and they should be cited! It should not matter who is doing it- the city should be enforcing the same laws to all.
This man pictures dragging his tent back here, got aggressive, used profanity & calling me names IN FRONT OF OFFICERS CLEARING THE SITE AGAIN after I had to move their tent from in front of my driveway gate of my home -where they dragged it across the street in front of. and I told them they needed to set it up elsewhere and not put it blocking my driveway.
The officers were great and helped calm things and made them keep moving on. Within an hour of the the cops leaving this guy came back.
I feel threatened and bullied now and I am worried for mine and the safety of my family because him and his friend got so aggressive and calling me names and blatantly started bending and trying to look through the side of my gate to see into my yard -to intimidate me in front of police...to scope out my house to come back to retaliate?
I am worried to leave with my kids now.
It is not right that he can come back -this is border line harassment now.
If anything violent happens to me or my family tonight God forbid, I tried calling police. This is now my documentation that the police who work the later shift are not following through to support the colleagues that worked to clear these bullies from the area today. And these men wouldn’t leave and have come back 5 times -every day with 1-4 hours after being told they have to go elsewhere. This has been happening over the last two weeks.
