You may not realize that all or most of the houses downhill from Kennedy Blvd have flooding problems. Welcome to my world! Not only have I had French Drains installed ($$!!$$) but I recently had a backwater valve installed which specifically stops water from coming into my basement from the street. So far...so good. Basement dry. Before that--the basement sink and washing machine would fill up and overflow during heavy rains. But it has been dry since installing the valve. I understand everyone in Hoboken has one...and many of the homeowners on the Western Slope do as well. Bite the bullet...get it done.
