East and West Traffic is extremely packed during school hours Monday- Thursday 830am to 930am and Fridays 830am to 230 pm. These lights last no more than 15 seconds and I constantly count 2-5 cars clearing the light. this is unacceptable!! that stretch of road is not big enough to handle the elementary schools and jr high traffic and also the go home traffic through there. this light needs to be adjusted to handle to traffic. the lights going north and south are 2 minutes. the east and west should be of equal time to handle that traffic!!!

This intersection is definitely a joke. Going east and west on 9800 South, through the Bangerter intersection, backs up so far that drivers trying to merge onto 9800 South from side streets are at the mercy of the backed-up drivers waiting through sometimes eight to ten light cycles to finally cross Bangerter. There aren't even any side streets that can be used to cross Bangerter. Lights for east and west traffic desperately need to be longer!

Bangerter handles a significant larger volume of traffic and should be the priority. I have waited myself on 9800 s but fully expect that to be the case especially during school drop off and pick up. I know I have to adjust my schedule or my route. I have done this for years and impeding traffic on bangerter is not the solution. Just close off the intersection all together and allow 9000s or 106000 south be the thoroughfare once the overpass is built at 106000.

Obviously it's more significant on Bangerter. DURING school hours there is no reason it cant be adjusted to fit the needs of traffic. Also, 9800 s is a main vain for neighborhoods to get through to the schools east of Bangerter. If your solution is to block off 9800 S then they need to adjust the schools on the west side of the Bangerter. Your idea does t meet the needs of the neighborhoods/ kids. Thanks BUT NO THANKS.

I get stuck at this light on Bangerter during rush hour at both ends of the day. The afternoon is particularly bad, being backed up southbound all the way back through 90th. Clearly this intersection has significant issues, and they are only getting worse as the population continues to grow. We are all suffering, regardless of which direction we are driving. Let's think outside of the box for a minute. When will the 9800 S intersection be converted to an overpass like other former intersections on Bangerter?

It's not even in the plan for the next 5 years because of the water on the east side of the road. That has to be approved to be moved to expand. East and West traffic needs a lengthened light during school hours.

I timed the West Bound lights. 9 seconds on the left turn light a s 18 seconds on the straight light. The light is by far not long enough to allow east and west traffic through to help clear the schools out.

UDOT crews have evaluated the signal timing at this intersection. We have seen the congestion on the east and west directions, particularly during school pick-up hours. Unfortunately the congestion on Bangerter at the same time is even worse, and we cannot add green time for the east/west movements without making Bangerter even worse than it is. We have left the signal timing alone for now.
