This is garbage! Didn't you read that all work had stopped because of a dispute with the insurance company about responsibility for the repairs? So, in the meantime, the path stays closed, with scaffolding in place, with nothing being done now for weeks? This is what is turning this city into a poor joke, where this administration kowtows to whatever any business interest wants while disregarding the needs of its citizens. People starting rightfully dismantling the barriers when it was seen that nothing was occurring. And if they're put back, I hope they're destroyed again. You've already got a giant hole in the ground, and a closed building owned by the same set of shysters. To top it off, the Hotel Vermont only exists because the owners paid the city off to get out the affordable housing that was promised there when the Marriott and WestLake went up. Now you expect pedestrians and bicyclists to go way out of their way to get between the North and South sides of town. And it's not only inconvenience, there are serious safety issues associated with biking Battery Street or South Winooski Avenue. Open the pathway NOW, and let it be closed only when (or if) repairs will be effected, and for the shortest possible time.
