I live off 10th and it is a great problem that needs to be dealt with.

10th St is a designated truck route.

Ok, please help me understand where in the Jersey City, New Jersey State, or Federal Highway Administration truck route designates 10th Street as an official truck route? I only need to walk over to 9th street in order to find a substantial noise and traffic difference. How is this possible if this is the same neighborhood?

Truck routes are established in Chapter 26, Schedule 7 (currently not provided on the municipal code website). 10th Street was designated as a truck route in 1980. Please note that during that time 10th street was an industrial use and was/is used as a east-west route for trucks. I understand that now there are residential developments along 10th St and this places a burden on the neighborhood. If you wish to repeal this ordinance, it would require Council as well as State approval. In addition a new east-west route will need to be established. Please contact your Councilperson to move forward with this request.
