I left a message for the head of public works today to address the issue. I'll try again tomorrow -

I'm here with the director of public works. None of the cars were running over the covers... So we are going to go get our car and do it. My apologies for the noise...

28 is the issue that we found. Any others?

I thought of another possible solution that could help prevent this noise from occurring. Perhaps we can design a reflective X or lines to tape to the man hole covers that helps drivers avoid them?

When the Director of Public Works and I were out there, we were waiting for someone to drive over the manholes so we could hear, but after awhile gave up and got in our own car. Something other cities have done in a cheap way is to use red solo cups bolted into the road to mark bike lanes - because they're reflective, cheap, and do not hurt cars. I'm thinking more of reflective tape - but not yet sure if this would be a violation of standards in road design.

Has anyone heard of anything like this used?

This morning a work order was generated to investigate this issue by the Greater New Haven WPCA The work order was completed today and it has been reported that the Manholes have been addressed.
